Autodesk Pixlr App Reviews

Protest subscription-based licenses

I downloaded the app just so I could rant about the subscription license. I don’t even want to launch it. I’m stuck with Adobe Creative Cloud because it’s essential for my work, but if I could find sutible replacements I would. I’m not going down the Pixlr EULA path. I’ll use similar plug-ins from Topaz and MacPhun. If the developer changes license, I would reconsider.

in general idea is good, but its implementation could be much better

it is a shame for such big software company to offer such product under subscribtion when a lot of ohers similat are available for free even on mobile phones. Let me explain: in case if you whant to apply a frame in top of your reqtangular image, when you will see that square frame just straching and frame borders are bigger at the short edges and thiner along the other. So, it means, if you whant to apply frames, you need only square images, otherwise it looks awful. The second issue: frame could be applied only on top of the image and covers part of your picture. You can’t change any of speciall effects that you have applied on your image. I would like to see something similar like layers, where you can switch on or off any previously applied effect, chenge them, and modify transparent mask. And the positive moments, Pixlr offers reach set of different effects, that can make your image younique.

effect is not worked :(

unfourtunality in mac version effect and border section is not active :( … and i reinstall it but not trust … if effect is worked it is best :)

Support Nonexistent

Scam alert. I want my money back. This thing is a SCAM. Pixlr is only crashing time and time again. I can’t connect to support because the pop up says I am using the wrong email. This is simply not true. I sort of resent having to purchase a membership for a year, and then the app itself only crashes. Why am I paying for something I can’t use. I feel ripped off. This is the worst app I have ever had the misfortune to run into. What a joke.

Love this app, BUT...

For what I need it for, Pixlr is perfect, and it’s super easy to navigate. I have been using it for 4 months, but in these last 3 weeks or so, it has been crashing non stop and now won’t even open. It needs some serious support and it needs it now!!

Crashes Instead of Opens

I really liked using this useful app for convenient image editing. However, once I signed up for an account, the app crashed and would never open again despite multiple un/reinstall attempts and following the instructions of Autodesk support.

ANOTHER MEMBERSHIP SCHEME!

I used to love this app. But I’m getting sooooo tired of companies developing these membership apps, etc. BYE! UPDATE: I initially rated this APP 1 Star back on December 14, 2014. I came back to check out how it was doing and secretly hoping they’d either get rid of the membership scheme or offer a similar app for free or one-time purchase. I see this has not happened yet. What I did come across that I think is a great idea is another reviewer’s suggestion to PROTEST SUBSCRIPTION-BASED LICENSES. I do understand the developers need to make money to keep their Apps updated, etc. However, forcing people into monthly and yearly subscriptions is not right, in my opinion, and I’m seeing many others think that too. Not everyone, but many. I like purchasing my software outright…one time, that’s it, end of story. Now, it seems that even with Autodesk having both a monthly and yearly subscription, many consumers sucked into their scheme are not liking the App currently with all it’s problems (i.e., crashes, etc.). So people are not getting what they are paying for. Where is your money going, people? Yeah, I think PROTEST SUBSCRIPTION-BASED LICENSES is a great idea. And, I think reporting the company to, let’s say, like the Better Business Bureau, for a poor product that one is paying for is in order too.

Erasing, cutting, removing

Can any one tell me how to cut, remove, or simply erase an image, I don’t want to use…. its a 3 star at best software if I can get around that “user friendly” issue.

Do Not If

Please do not get this app, it won’t alow you to Rotate your picture, get this one instead fotor, you can rotate a picture. Its free. easy to export to iPhoto too!.

Missing Element/Tool

Though I enjoy using the Pixlr, one very important element is now missing from the current program—the history/brush/eraser. Without this tool the program is useless. Yet the eraser function is available on line. Why is it not included in the purchased version of Pixlr? Is this an oversight? If so, it should be made available to purchasers of the program at no further cost. Overall, the program has great promise, but this missing element keeps it from being truly complete. Please fix this problem immediately to make the program worthwhile..

What Happened?

I’m a Graphic Designer (Adobe products), I got this over a year ago I think and I loved it; it was simple quick and easy to get the “looks” i was after, and stack effects and images. I even went with the free membership to get the additional stuff, but now it won’t even open to show the canvas/workspace. I use a late 2011 13” 2.8 GHz MacBook Pro, 8 GB RAM, 512 MB GPU, with Yosemite. The online version has a lot more capabilities (think Photoshop-type editing, plus it’s free!) and I can save a .jpg or .tiff to my desktop or save for additonal edit/re-edit to my online account, so maybe that’s what I’ll use from now on. In the midde of writing this, I just now went to the website and was able to downlaod it, so, I’m gonna try again, but now I suppose I won’t be able to update via the App Store. What a mess someone’s madel. I’m just guessing here but, if/when the previous version stops working you need to trash it and re-install? and that’s also just crazy! The App Store is supposed to be about ease and convenience. I don’t think the problem is Apple, but Autodesk. The version from Autodesk seems to be working just fine for now. I’ll wait and see what happens and try to let folks know how it goes.

Fantastic App! (But I would like it to be eaiser to save to re-editable file formats)

Hi! I love this app overall and it runs as smooth as a bullet flying in space! I found it to a nuisance, though, that there are no file formats that allow for re-editing. I read on the help forum that .pxd would work, but I do not get the option to open those files for save to that format. Please make it easier to do this. Also, it feels like Autodesk is using the tactic of chargin a yearly subscription fee to make more money, and you guys are doing it on all of the apps. Please make it less expensive to enjoy your products! I really love Autodesk! I never did, and don’t want to view Autodesk as a company that tries to scrape people’s pockets dry. Enough of that. I would love to see improved file formats and slightly reduced prices. Slightly. Hope this helps! Alan

Ok App

I’m not a proffesional photographer or anything, but this app makes my photos look great! It’s really easy to use, but after about 2 weeks of using it, it refuses to open. It constantly crashes, and I haven’t been able to use it for at least 2-3 days - IT WON’T OPEN!

Great when it works

Unfortunately this app shuts down all the time, and I’ve had to uninstall it to get it to work again. It works some days, and others I can’t get it to open. But when it does work it’s a great photo editor.

uninstalling. interminable subscription model ruins it.

On top of having to log in every time I use the app, much of the content that came with the original version seems to be removed from the latest version — even for Pro users. Plus, I just don’t like renting software that is slow, buggy, hard to use, and provides minimal value.

Good application but needs improvement

If you have no intention of becoming a serious designer, but still appreciate creating impressive pictures with tons of filters, overlays and borders, this is really a good choice, it helps me quickly process my image into a professional looking photo. However some basic image editing tools were still missing within this update, please add more.

Best

This is the best app to modify your pictures on, but it would be great if a cartoon affect was added.

how does everyone not have this app?

This app is awesome! I never write reviews so this is my first, well deserved. I love all the effects, there could be cut and paste on it though. and there could be a library for you to save your work. but thats just pushing this free awesome app!

So Many Awesome Effects!

Love this! Tried the online version of Pixlr and loved that…Now I have it on my Mac! Tons of correction options & customization all for FREE!! I wish I could batch import photos to the app, but retreiving and saving are a snap. Wish I had this a few years ago!

Crashes repeatedly

I found this app from a web search for a png graphic editor. I’ve wasted over an hour trying to use it. It has crashed repeatedly. Then again, so has the web version. I’m done fighting it.
